Why Doesn't My Silkie Chicken Lay an Egg

My buff silkie bantam is 24 weeks old and started laying five days ago. She's laid an adorable small tinted egg every single day so far while her full size sisters (same age, assorted breeds) haven't done a thing yet. I've also heard they're not good layers but I am sooo excited about getting my first eggs. :)

Has anyone else had experience with prolific laying silkies? I'm keeping track of her eggs on the calendar and hope it keeps up.

My silkies lay very well but not all the time. They normally lay really well for a while than try to brood than stop laying for a while as they recover from brooding, than repeat. They lay their best during spring, summer, and early Autumn. But they try to brood all year round. I've had hens hatch out chicks in the middle of February(which I've learned to watch them and not let them brood whenever they want to)

I know this is an old post and I have nothing useful to say on laying eggs topic, but... You have the cutest silkie I have ever seen!! I can't handle the cuteness!

Just curious, did she lay eggs at some point?
My grandma had 2 silkie ladies and a cranky silkie guy, they lay eggs randomly, sometimes once a week, every couple of days or even one little egg every few months (I live in a tropical country, so I don't have winter problems), but we never had silkie chicks =(

Yes, my silkies lay and hatch their own, and other eggs. I love them!

Well, I know from my experience since mine too are indoors. I put a lamp with an LED light in there cause I know their cage is so big that it gets dark, and they don't like the dark when they are in their cage other then to sleep at night. Sparkles, just started to lay and has already laid 3 eggs this week. While Scarlet has not. I have come to the fact that she must be a she as she has no interest in mounting, and has not crowed, though is 10 months and is not showing any of the egg laying needs. While Sparkles (whenever I even go near the cage since the start of the week specially when I go to pet her) immediately gets into a crouch that is low to the ground and slightly spreads her wings, she is 7 months. She waits till I am done petting her back before she gets up and walks round again or paces till I pet her again or when out of her cage rubs against my foot kinda like the cat we have or she squawks and does what I like to call a bird/dog whine which is a quiet squawk that stops and starts till I pet her again or is satisfied with the petting/scratching of her neck and back, lol makes our teacup peekapoo jealous.
