I am looking into purchasing Peacock Pheasants. After reading about them, I still have some questions that I am hoping people on here will be able to answer. I recall reading that the Grey Peacock Pheasants do well in small to medium aviaries/pens. Why is that and what is wrong with keeping them in a large aviary with other birds? Since I do live the north, I would be able to provide a heated area for them during the cold winter months. If I was able to get a two egg clutch of hatching eggs from the Grey Peacock Pheasants, how hard would it be to hatch the eggs out using a cochin bantam broody hen? IF they hatch, then how hard are the chicks to raise, and are there any tips on raising them?

I really like the Grey Peacock Pheasants but I find the Palwan Peacock Pheasants to be nicer. What are the main differences between the two, are Palwans harder to raise or something like that? For any type of Peacock Pheasants, what is the average price for them?

Lastly, what is important to me is their behavior and friendliness. Do they get friendly enough like tragopans?

Don't forget to post pictures of your birds if you have any!
Thanks

I raise grey here in N.H without any heat source and they do fine.I do poly their entire pen so no drafts can get to them.My pen is only 6x12 and they do great, the hen laid her 1st egg march 8th.All pheasants should have their own pen and not shared with other pheasants at all.A pair of peafowl would be okay as long as your pen is big enough for all to have their own perching and feeding areas.
Palawans are beautiful birds and aren't any different then the greys.
If you can pick up some eggs locally, you may have a good chance of hatching them out.If you get shipped eggs, you may have problems as shipped eggs do not hatch well.Remember some not all packages get xrayed, and this will kill the embryo.
Prices for greys are around 250.00 pr,germaines 600.00,palawans 800.00,well thats around here in N.H.,if you can find them. They can be very friendly birds with minimal work.My hen was a very good mother to her chicks, she raised a pair each year.
What other species do you raise?
In N.H.,Tony.

Pretty birds and great pics Tony! And they look pretty friendly as well. The one my friend by me has are pretty shy birds. But he doesnt spend no time with em and there is alot of cover in the pen. He has them in a pen the same size as yours. I always thought the palawans were harder to raise for some reason. I got to see my first palawans (in the flesh lol!) not long ago at the chattanoga Tenn. aquarium rainforest exhibit, I got real close to them. They were nice looking
