I bought my parent stock last year and we are hatching Rhode Island Reds and a Red Sex-Link this spring... Here are some pics...

BTW we did have a few mixed eggs in there when we first started hatching but now they are all seperated properly

Yes... but its a lot of work... We have flyers up everywhere, Crag List ads, and facebook ads... we had 400 sold before the first egg hatched. Just hope we can keep the orders coming.

Wow! I'm a little jealous! Wish I was having that kind of luck selling my animals! How many chickens do you have that you have that many eggs to hatch!!

I bought parent stock last year:

30 Rhode Island Red Pullets
16 Rhode Island White Pullets
Plus appropriate Roosters

They are all great layers but everyone wants sex-link pullets... so now I wish I have bought 30 RIW. Guess I'll hatch some this year so next year will be easier.

I get between 15-16 eggs from the 16 Rhode Island Whites every day... The RIR lay about 26-27 a day from the 30 hens I have. With a few misc hens (1 green egg 2 silkies, and a few mixed) I get near 4 doz eggs a day.

Sheepers! What makes the sex-links so sought after, just the fact that you can tell who's a boy and who's a girl?
