when to switch from starter feed?

I've been raising poultry of all types for over 35 yrs. and variety is the key. i always start with a chick starter. then go to a regular maintaining feed. i also mix in a bunch of mixed birdseed that has many different seed types in it. what ever goes on sale. i give it to them as well as dandelions, plantain and lambsquaters i pull up from the lawn edge. i also keep all the egg shells. i cook them for 1 min. in microwave and crush them fine to mix in their feed. any prunings from my fruit trees and garden all go in thier run. they love diseased wormy fruit too! by doing this its a little more work but you save a lot in feed costs. little of everything is ok.
