Broken Beak Tip, should I trim?

I have read many of the threads about broken beaks, but haven't found one that answers my situation. Most are more severe than my Pierre's. I am aware that it will grow back, and he is not in pain as some others, it isn't broken that far, no soft tissue is exposed.

His issue is that his beak tip is broken, in an "A" or "V" shape, with the point of the "A" being the center of the beak. There is also a crack that runs from the point of the "A" in the direction of his nostril. The sides are longer than the center. As I was observing the other day he seems to have trouble picking things up to eat, so I was just wondering if he will be able to keep his weight up.

I am thinking I should trim or file the beak edges so that
1. he will be able to better pick up food.
2, the long edges won't take pressure, causing the crack to continue running up his beak, like a crack in glass or a nylon stocking will run?

I've never trimmed a beak before, but I'm sure I can find directions here. I'm not afraid to try as long as I have good information to do it...

These first pictures show the crack, though the phone focused on the wrong spot in the one. harder than I thought to keep his head still with one hand and take the photo with the other!

This photo may show the "A" shaped break a little better. (the out of focus theme still going on sorry...

hi there! it won't hurt to trim it just don't go too deep. I have a cross beak so I have to trim the beak at least once every month sometimes twice a month! I use simple toe nail clippers as with the other kind for dogs you can easily go too deep! it won't bother a bit. my last trim a few days ago I accidentally went too deep and had a bit of bleeding but as soon as it stopped she was eating again. do it carefully and you will be just fine! not to worry. I do it ALL the time because if I don't the cross beak gets very severe. and becomes worse and worse. so I assure you its OK to clip. just don't get into the quick or area that causes the bleeding. it will likely be a relief for the bird once its done! if he's sore for that day which is unlikely you can give a bit of mash. even though mine bleed in a couple of hours mine was eating hard food again. I hope this is helpful. I'm sure the clipping will go just fine! Best wishes.

Beak trimmed up really easy with toenail clippers to a more natural shape. It hurts a lot less now when he eats from my hand lol. Now he is getting used to the new shape. He used to have to do an odd twist with his head to pick up things so he is in that habit & it doesn't work anymore, but he is catching on. I watched him for quite a while foraging so I could be sure :)

I appreciate this forum existing so I would know what to do. I would never even have know I could trim his beak without it.
