It looks kinda like a golden partridge. I've bred a black-tailed buff with a brassy back and gotten a color like yours. She also looks like she could be a golden penciled.

Unusual color! Beautiful, though it is, it's not considered an Ameraucana, but an Easter Egger. The accepted Ameraucana colors are Black, Blue, Blue Wheaten, Brown Red, Buff, Silver, Wheaten & White.

I dont know anyone who breeds Easter Eggers for specific colors, they come in so many variations. I've never seen that one before in an Easter Egger. Maybe someone would tell you what to breed to approximate that color again. Reminds me of a Golden Campine's color pattern.

I've got a few EE's that are similar to yours, they are so pretty! Although I think mine are a bit more red than yours... I got mine from the hatchery - I have no idea how to breed for this color...

hey all,

thanks for your input.. still not sure about "fRECKLES:.... I will soon, hopefully tomorrow post pics of our new Ameraucana Silver roo! We think hes gorgeous, but would love input from the more experienced Ameraucana breeders out there! We also ended up with some gorgeous white'SPLASH" B IRDS.. BOTH A young cockerel and some pullets. i know that Splash is not a recognized color in Ameraucana, but i know there are breeders of splash.. We plan on putting our Silver roo with a blue hen, a white hen and a black hen.. Does anyone know the colors we will get? We also have a blue Ameraucana roo who is with a silver hen, a blue wheaten hen and a black hen.. What would be the best color combo for the Splash roo? What happens when you breed splash to splash?

I know, so many colors, so many options.. but we are sure having fun with these birds!

I was gave this chart for Ameraucana colors
black x blue= 50% blue + 50% black

black x splash= 100% blue

blue x splash= 50% blue + 50% splash

black x black= 100% black (same color mating

I had one that looks like yours but her father was a Buff Amercuana and her mother was a Wheaton Amercuana...yep, purebred Amercuanas but this pullet would consider to be an EE even she is purebred Amercuana. Produced some beautiful babies.

Wow, Ewesheep! It looks like your chicken even has the required slate leg coloring required of true Ameraucanas. Impressive that you were able to achieve such an unusually colored cross while maintaining the correct leg color.
