bald bottoms and swollen tummys!

I am still so new on this site that I cant find some of the things I read originally, which encouraged me to join. One of the posts was talking about their hens not being able to be out much because of the dog. We had the same problem with one of our dogs(other two have been fine as have two dogs we look after for their holidays). We were having to put Hovis on the lead to get out the car and tie him beside us when sitting outside for a cup of tea etc. He hated this and as you can imagine as soon as we sat down with anything looking like food the girlies would come running and be all around. We tried to make sure they didn't get too close to Hovis and praised him if he ignored them and gradually he seemed to realise that they are meant to be here too....he is fine now with them, not needing to be on the lead at all times, but I still wouldn't leave him out with them if we were not around. I also worried a bit when the young dog knocked the cat flap off, as the chooks were looking at the hole in the door with interest as it looks just like their eggloo entrance and sure one would have come in eventually.....that might have stretched Hovis's tolerance too much!
