I thought I would ask it here because it is the ducks part of the forum :D

I have a broody chicken hatching 6 duck eggs. 2 of them is hatched, 1 has made a hole big enough for it beak. The other three haven't even internally pipped yet, but you can here tapping on them

I was wondering if it is normal for newly hatched ducklings to not know how to really walk and then wiggle around a lot?

Check in over at the Thread Formerly Known as Hatch Day is Today. From what I have read on the Duck Forum, I think it does take them several hours to regain their strength after hatching. It's really hard on them.

Okay good :)

The two that hatched are good and active the third is doing the twitchy thing.

Hm

The third is good now and a fourth is almost all the way out of the egg :D
The fifth has pipped, the sixth has internally pipped but not externally yet... I don't think so anyways :p

Crap.. We have 3 ducklings out of 7.

The first hatched too early, 3 hatched almost all the way and all died today. 2 with in the last 10 minutes :/

But at least we have 3 seemingly healthy ones

Well Anywho later that day I found one of the blue ones dead :(

Oh my gosh they were adorable as tiny ducklings and beautiful as teenagers.

Most ducklings are adorable! :D

I am pretty sure they are both female.. They already quack like girls... Well it's more like "peep peep quack quack".. It is hilarious.
