I thought some of you guys would get a kick out of my parrots. They are so productive this year, I can't believe it!

My cockatiels, Gizmo & Pearl have been at it for weeks! They have 5 eggs in their nest box. They make excellent parents too!

And my Green Cheek Conures have an egg and I haven't even gotten a chance to name them yet! Hopefully they will take care of the babies long enough that I can safely handfeed.

As most of you know, parrrot chicks are born tiny, blind, bald, and helpless. They must be handfed and kept warm by BOTH of their parents. Mom and dad have shifts. It is a common practice to take the babies off their parents and feed them by hand with either a bent spoon or a syringe. I usually let my birds take care of their babies all the way through and just take them all out once a day for socialization. However that doesn't work as well as handfeeding. This time I'm hoping to handfeed so see if the outcome is any different.

Cockatiels are great fun to have around. The males can whistle and they can be quiet comical with their clown cheeks.

Green Cheek Conures are among one of my favorite birds. Such a little bird with such a big personality. They love to fly around, too.

I am a pool of knowledge when it comes to parrots so let me know if you want to know anything!

If you were closer I'd ask if you'd be willing to sell me a cockatiel egg. LOL

My poor girl tries to hatch her infertile eggs every year. She lays her four eggs and sits and sits and sits. Short day length, diet control, removal of her "favorite" toys and perches, changing environment, and kicking her out of hidy spots just doesn't seem to stop her from laying. Silly thing.

Congrats on your eggs!

Every tiel i bred was a horrible parent thats why i dont like them. Most of the natural insticts were bred out of them by people who handfeed
