I have 6 ducks egg that are scheduled to hatch this Friday, June 14th. This afternoon at lunch I went home to turn the eggs and noticed that one of the eggs end (air sack end) was BLACK!!! There is movement in the egg and the egg is rocking back and forth! Is the duckling going to be okay? Do I need to help it out of its shell? I tried to post a picture from my phone with no luck. Please help!!

Are you sure of hatch date plus it could be temp in bator was a little to warm and they gonna hatch early
I had some turkeys that hatched about four due before they were supposed to

The temp has been a steady 99.5. I have put these eggs in on the 17th of May. I forgot to mention that the OUTSIDE of the egg looks black. I candled the egg and that is when I saw movement on the inside of the egg but the air sack is completely gone! I do not remember seeing this happening with my chicken and goose eggs that I hatched in Feb.

I don't know about ducks but some of my chicken egg shells will turn black and different colors during incubation but not more than a few shades sorry I can't help more cause i dont know that much a bout ducks but I hope some else can and i hope it makes it

Thanks for lending a hand. This is the first time to hatch ducks. I sure hope all goes well.

I checked my egg this morning, candled it and the air sack was on the top of the egg instead of at the end. I tipped the egg to an upright position and all the goo oozed down to the bottom. Poor baby didn't make it.
