One of my hens went broody on July 3. Slowly but surely her sisters joined her until there were five hens. They laid 17 eggs total,. They have been sitting all together very closely and sharing the 17 eggs. On July 25th, 3 eggs hatched. The next day, two more hatched. The hens are caring for the babies and some are still sitting on the 12 unhatched eggs. No new babies this morning.

My question is, will the rest of the eggs hatch? Since they laid the eggs on different dates, does that mean a staggered hatch as well?

Thanks!

My understanding from reading is that there will be a staggered hatch if the eggs started incubating at different times. You may want to put the babies in different nests based on hatch dates, older in one nest, younger in another and the unhatched eggs in yet another nest. As paiirs of babies hatch, put them into a different nest with a hen.

first a pigeon will lay only two eggs sounds like you have hens re laying this sounds like a loft management problem to many birds not enough nests some extra unmated hens also are these doves or pigeons

I believe that AnnGSGG went to a wrong thread category(Pigeon And Doves). From those all he said, i think that it is about chicken hens.It is very very unusual that huge number of pigeons to share a nest,go broody and lay 17 eggs. That, because pigeons live as pairs!
