17-18 weeks, almost 18-19 weeks old. Any day now. Fiona is a white leghorn and her comb is nice and red. I tried petting her to see if she squats but she runs away. I can fit about 2 fingers width between her pelvic bones.
She's quite a heavy gal too. The hen in the background is Melody, she has the 4th largest comb. Melody just recently started to redden and get a larger comb. These were a couple days ago.
Amelia, 3rd oldest.
Clara, 2nd oldest. Fiona
I assume a large comb means more seniority. It seems once they start reddening, the comb and wattles grow at a fast rate. Sophie, the youngest, still has a yellow comb and mold pink face. I think she's a couple weeks younger.
My leghorns are 18 weeks and one of they just laid their first egg today, one of them is currently on a nest, I guess getting ready to lay. the other shows no interest haha. Good luck!
Won't be long now
