Sold wrong breed of chicken - is it an Ameraucana?

As lots of others said, you simply won't find Auracaunas sold from feed stores or hatcheries. They are difficult to breed and it just isn't profitable. The standard for the breed calls for them to have tufts. This, however is caused by a lethal gene. Chicks born with two copies of it will die. Breeding them would not be profitable. There is also the tricky matter of breeding for rumplessness, which can decrease fertility. So the process becomes more complicated then just sticking hens and roosters together and selling the babies. Much more thought and work must go into it and even then many birds won't fit standards. Hatcheries hatch EEs. They have some traits of Auracaunas or Americaunas, but are neither breed.

I just wanted to point out that there are a couple of hatchery that do sell true Amaracanas, I know that Myers Hatchery does as I have bought a few from them for around 20 dollars a piece.

Also,

A few select hatcheries (Meyer, My Pet Chicken) have Ameraucanas, but many, many other hatcheries advertize Ameraucanas that are really mixed breed Easter Eggers.
