Why is my Button Quail goin bald?!

I have the same problem... my male button quail is going bald. He has a female buddy, I feed them game bird feed, boiled eggs, calcium grit and an occasional branch of millet seed. He does seem healthy otherwise. Any suggestions or problems I should be watching for?

I'm pretty sure that they are sexed correctly. I've had them for about 1 1/2 years without seeing any inappropiate aggressive behavior. Can that change after this long?

I really don't know; I haven't had mine that long, but the reason I said that is because the one I have that is going bald I thought was the male but it is the female. The other that I thought was a male is an agressive female. They aren't that old so it's hard to tell, and only one is laying and I can't figure out which one it is. There is also a male in there with them but I know what he is!

If they're just going bald, it might be because they're hitting their heads on the tops of the cages when they pop up... mine do that all the time. I'm going to try putting screen-material on the tops of the cages from here on out.

He does jump up a lot and even cut his head once. Hopefully that's all it is. Thanks for the screen suggestion. I have some in the garage so 'll do that today.

I had one (male) that went bald on his back. I watched and noticed the hen he was with was pulling out his feathers. I swapped his hen with a different hen and his feathers grew back and all of the birds seemed happier with their new mates.
