Hi, I know this question is VERY popular. We ordered all hens from a hatchery. Wondering if this gal may be a guy. She/He is 4 weeks old. What do you think???

Due to comb and waddle development, I am thinking that's a male. You'll know for sure in another week or two. Male rhode island red's tend to grow faster than females.

I see the bit of pink in that comb at 4 weeks. A roo comb will get pinker and pinker as he matures until it is bright cherry red. The wattles too are a good indication. I am leaning towards Rooster. When he gets some good tail plummage a Roosters tail will curl and the pullets will not.
Glad to have you join us.

With that much comb and wattle, I think you have a rooster. Females usually don't start showing such a large, red comb until they are at least fourteen weeks old.

Thank you everyone. We didn't plan on having a rooster. Gonna keep watching to see what happens. Here's another pic.
