My duck has the same thing. Just showed up one day, been there for about a month. The reason I let it go for so long is that at first it just looked like feathers pulled by the drake. Then I removed the drake and noticed it wasn't going away. After checking it there is a hard mass, not attatched to the skull but floating at the base in a way. Very odd feeling. I was an ED nurse for 15 yrs and feel comfortable with doing small surgery on my animals and have done so for years, but it is so close to the base of the skull I worry it is a mass on the spinal cord. She is not distressed and has been healthy otherwise other than a case of bumble foot.
Curious how the duck above turned out... unfortunately maybe it didn't turn out.
