When do embden geese lay eggs?

About 9 or 10 months mine started laying. They start about mid dec to late jan and lay sometimes as late as mid april. Some geese will lay twice a year and set. If you take the eggs they will lay more, and with the help of the right diet, proteins and laying pellets, you can collect more eggs.

It also depends on the age of the goose. You can learn more by looking at the availability dates on chicks and hatching eggs on sites like www.MurryMcmurry.com or www.Metzerfarms.com

Good Luck!

Hi,
I give my Embeden geese some layers pellets (duck or chicken variety) every evening as this is supposed to help but mine haven't started laying yet. I hope this start laying in February...

Thanks for making this post :) I am wondering the same thing I have a female embden and a female toulouse or i think she is since i got a mix of geese breeds from efowl.com. I also got a male tufted embden. I sexed them when they were young and to the best of my ability. I got them May 6th in the mail so probably hatched May 4th. the tufted is showing signs of being a male he is much larger and holds his head higher then the other two. they are very friendly. I haven't witnessed any mating yet but that may be due to the pond being frozen this time of year and only having a foot deep pool for them to play in on days i fill it. If they do happen to lay within the next month or so should i remove the eggs due to them possibly freezing in our Wisconsin climate. I hope to hatch some eggs either in my incubator this spring or see if they sit. i hope to see some mating soon

Piper (female) I believe she is toulouse but correct me if i may be wrong )

Moose canada goose (male) Ivory (female) embden

Ivory (female) the one looking at me and closer

this is what happend when I call for them
the canada goose can fly but i timed his one side enough that he cant get to high although when he molted i let his feathers grow and i learned not to as when i run with them he will fry after me to catch up and one time he got to high that he couldn't land in the pond so he was already way over the marsh and i could see he was trying to turn around. and we have two lakes on either side of us and he landed in the one to the west of us much bigger and also not our land so this happend before dark so of course i was instantly sad that he might not make it out their being his first time outside for a night but luckily he was out on open water. so i first went to go see if he was on the lake as i honked for him and he knows it and will honk back so i knew he was down their in the marsh or on the lake. and since its marsh i got soaked all the way up to my waist but i got to the side fo the lake and he was there I called him and he came over to me. but since it was getting dark he didn't want to get out of the water so i was really aggravated cause he was right there but i couldn't get him cause the lake has no bottom or what looks like a shore is just layer of muck. so i went back home to tell my parents and then decided i would call the neighbor and ask if i could go rescue my goose from their lake. but in the morning. i couldn't sleep that whole night. I waited till 8am to call and these are actually neighbors that are kinda mean but not to my family but to my friends but over the last few years they have been nicer. So i told them my goose landed on the lake and asked if it was alright to go get him from their land which was once my grandmas but she was dumb enough to sell it to them. Has great fishing and no public access. so I told them i would be using my tubing raft to oar out their i did have a kayak but didnt really want to haul it on my car. and plus it was summer so water was warm. so i go out to the lake and hes still on the end were i was last night i called to him and he started making his way towards me and finally was next to me in my raft. but every time my other geese would honk he would hear them and try going back to the other side so i had to keep telling him to follow me and finally he did and we made out way back to the shore were i got off the raft and quickly grabbed him not sure if he would follow me out he was quite calm no thrashing as i waked back to the car. he hated the car i tried to put him in the passenger seat but he refused and instead stood on the back of my neck as i was then leaning forward trying to drive with him balancing on my back. made it home and parked in the garage. got him off my back and opened the door for him to jump out. i got my sister to hold him while i trimmed some of his primaries. and then i carried him out to his friend out by the pond he was happy to be back but a little shaken from the whole ordeal. I do not want that to happen again.

What an interesting story of your exploits with your cananda goose.

I´m glad you didn´t disappear in the mud! And I love the photos of your geese, really beautiful.

I see you didn´t get an answer before, so I´ll just add my little bit: You could always up their calcium a bit if they´re going to be laying a lot of eggs for you, but if it´s just eggs for them to set, then they´ll be fine with the forage. That´s just how I do it.

Yes if they r going to lay just to set then they should be good on the foraging but IF they r just laying eggs then I usually fed mine oyster shell
