Hi guys (or girls)
When I ordered chickens, this chicken was amongst my Easter Eggers.
She definitely is no Easter Egger. She has grayish legs, big waddles, large comb.
She is 6 months old in the picture.
the picture doesn't show it very well but there is some golden lacing in there, especially around the neck. the company does not know what they shipped. Does anyone have any Idea?
oh yes, and her tail is quite square and upright.
I do believe she is a girl. I find eggs that are light brown and I think they are hers.

I think she's a Black Sex Link (AKA Black Star). They are great birds, and lay lots of eggs.

OK.... I'm probably being dense here (yet again...)
But why can't she be an EE? Isn't an EE any sort of cross who has one of those blue-egg-laying purebreeds somewhere back in it's past?
I have 1 EE hen who is mostly brown (I think her 'lacing' is called partridge) and lays a nice med. brown egg. One of her eggs - by a BCM roo - hatched this spring and now I have another EE hen who is solid black with just the faintest copper/gold shading and who lays dark, dark brown eggs.

Oh, that one I know. She can't be an Easter egger because of her comb. It's big and big waddles too.
Oh yes, and she doesn't have puffy cheeks.

ee's can look like anything, but if she is laying a brown egg and looks like a black sexlink, than shes probably a black sex link. Ees are any bird with the blue/green egg gene that doesn't fit a standard.
 
There's no "standard" saying what makes a bird an Easter egger, but imo if you've lost the blue/green gene, and any identifying characteristics such as slate or willow legs, muffs/beard, pea comb, then you've lost the "Easter egger" part and simply have mixed breed birds, just like mixing any other breed. I have lots of birds with EE background, but no characteristics, so I don't call them EE, I just call them barnyard mix.

First of all: Congrats about being back home.
Second: I wish I could donate blood. But I originally came from Europe and believe this or not:
After having registered to donate blood, they had me wait for 3 hours and then happily told me they couldn't use my blood because I was from Europe.

As for the chicken: There was this one that I posted, but also another one that was not a real EE. And yet another one died immediately after transport from the Hatchery. Yet another one had such a crooked beak that she is considered handicapped and can only eat chicken layer pellets. She can't eat small insects or seeds.
I had ordered 6 EEs. So that left me with only 2 real live non handicapped EEs. Wonderful.
