Exploded? Freezing is alien to my experience in Australia, never seen snow, so I'm just guessing. lol.

Oh yeah! I totally forgot they were in the trunk, and didn't open it again until yesterday. Cans were literally peeled back from the force of expanding liquid, and I had Coke slushy all over my trunk.
Ya know, I knew there was a reason Australia is about the only country I'd like to visit--the no freezing part sounds very appealing right about now!

You can get the same results by putting cans of soda in the freezer to cool them quickly and then forgetting them Ask me how I know this.
Been there done that.. Whats fun is when you make the mistake of opening a mostly frozen coke. Looks like a kids volcano science project. You would not believe how much foam can come out of one can.

Yeah, the non-damaged cans were still slushy, and I had to stop the boyos from opening them. Then of course, once I explained what would happen--frozen slushee all over the place--they wanted to do it even more! Most times I'm happy I have boys, but once in a while I think girls would have been a better way to go..........

I seen a picture of frozen/exploded pop inside a vehicle on Pinterest! Did not look like a fun time!
Lol, yeah... I have seen the results of people putting beers in the freezer before, so I guessed explosion because of that. Worse when there's glass involved. Once an aunt of mine didn't poke holes in her sausages before baking them and they exploded in much the same way. Funny but messy.
