Swollen face

Any ideas on my BBB? Her face is still really swollen and the cayenne pepper has her back eating and drinking. I just can't get her face and sinuses cleared up. : (. I appreciate any ideas and the time for writing them. Thanks!

I hope you read the beginning of this thread and took what was said into consideration. She doesnt appear to have Blackhead, she looks to have a sinus infection. With some infections not all can be cured and even with meds the symptoms can subside and still leaves them carriers meaning they could potential shead the virus and pass the infection later to other flock mates. Depending on the virus it can be passed through the eggs and chicks can be born with it. This can even be passed if you yourself track it elsewhere.

If she were mine (which I know she is not) I personally would cull her, and then disinfect everything and keep a close eye on your other flock members. Again just what I would do. I would not keep any sick bird(s) in my flock. I see that there are chickens in the pic with the turkey also so it is likely all you birds have been exposed.

The other option is to start her on Tylan50 and it may help clear her up (possibly not cure her). You do not need to inject the tylan nor would I put it in her water. What you can do is use a medicine syringe to measure out the dosage and just give it to her orally. Just squirt it down her throat.

I wish you luck with your turkey.

Thank you, Chicken Pickin. Yes-- I read everything including multiple sinus infection threads. As stated, I am most certain that my turkeys, who were recently added to the flock, got the infection from my chickens. The other turkeys have cleared up but the BBB just can't get her face swelling to go down. I don't care if they are all carriers-- anything they've been exposed to has come naturally from the 127 acres around them. I'll try the Tylan50, orally, next. Thank you.

PS-- how many doses of Tylan50 per day, for how many days, please? Three days? Thanks!
If you're going to do it orally I think you'll need to do it at least two times a day. Dose for a turkey should be around 0.6ml per 2.2 pounds. How much does she weigh?

Hi Kathy! My chicken guy said to use Doxy-Ty on my big momma turkey. She was on 1 teaspoon per gallon of water for 13 days. She's doing well and has also been wormed with the others. Hopefully she'll be back to wonderful again soon!
Many, many thanks!!
