egg found on ground is discolored

They are definitely grossly losing feathers; which is strange for this time of year. I thought maybe a mini-molt for spring, but they are full-on losing their feathers starting from the top- down and the new ones are emerging. I've checked them for parasites, so I'm thinking whatever happened to them prior to me picking them up may have contributed to the flock wide molt (relocated, diet, lighting, etc) Their combs have paled and they sure aren't laying. Since I got them, about 5 days ago, I've received 3 eggs. They look absolutely terrible. I have compassion for them because they are having to learn how to live outside a life of production. We had a terrible storm come through that had some serious down pour. I looked outside and they are all standing in the rain. All they've known is the walls of a barn. The next day, they wised up and decided against weathering the storm. They are getting smarter and have figured out when I come outside, I"m usually packing the meal worms. I've increased their protein (considerably), set out some calcium, and shelled out treats; so, they are happy chickens indeed.

Where did they come from?
Can yo post pics of a few of them?
Relocation, change in environment can definitely cause a molt....
....and new feathers emerging (not mentioned before) confirms a molt.
They can indeed look terrible covered in pinfeathers...lol....that will soon change as those pin feathers unfurl into new plumage.

Yep, those are molting hens. Like aart said, they can molt anytime, not just the "normal" times. Stress, sudden artificial lighting change or disease (as Kelsie pointed out) can all cause it. What stresses a chicken may not be intuitive to us (read a few posts back to what Kelsie said about stress, it's good).
