I am getting the details together to build my coop and run this weekend. My question is do you guys and gals feed in your coop or out side in the run. My thought is if they only feed in the run it will aid in keeping the coop cleaner. Thoughts or opinions.

The advantage to feed in the coop is it is always high and dry. The disadvantage is poop in the coop!

We feed and water in the coop, we have the feeders/waterers hanging just high enough they can reach but its difficult for them to muck it all up. I think with all this bad weather we've been having its the best choice because at least our chickens do not like to spend all that much time outside in bad weather and when it snows forget about it. unless we shovel out the snow they stay inside. At least in the coop the food stays dry.

If you have an outside area that is covered it will be better to keep the food and water out. The water can cause frost bitten combs in winter. The food gets knocked out of the feeder and usually ends up on the floor mixed in with the shavings. A good place for insect to hide.
I have an outside area covered with tin for my bunch.

We have their main feeder and water in the run. We don't get much rain or snow in Odessa so its not a problem. When we have cold snaps or nasty weather we feed them inside their coop. Our girls don't mind going outside in what I consider nasty weather but some might be picky.
