We noticed that our one-year-old Buff Orpington hen has strange, scaly looking skin on her legs. It looks bumpy and irregular. She has also been acting "broody", staying in the nesting box a lot, and not coming out as much with the other hens. Is this a concern? Is there anything I can do about it? Medicines? Treatments?

Looks like a bad case of scaly leg mites. You can gently scrub the legs with soapy water and a toothbrush, then apply castor oil or vaseline or bag balm once a week for several weeks. The other chickens will probably have them too, so the coop may need to be treated also. This can take a few months to treat.
