I did...I did!! I ordered my little chicken coop over the weekend...FINally took the plunge. Can't wait til it gets here. I can just see me now with parts strewn all over the yard, sitting with my instruction manual, tearing my hair out (what's left of it!)
Thanks, can't wait. This week I'm going to get my Black Australorp chicks at the feed store. Just have to pick up the "fixings" for my homemade brooder. I already have the plastic bin/tub. They'll be in the house til they pretty much feather out, then I'll move them out to the porch, and then the coop. A neighbor friend of mine has offered to help me with putting the coop together, and making the changes I plan on making to it, so here we go!!Hi! Just wanted to say congrats on the chicken coop!
Thanks! Brooder box is all set up and ready to go, just waiting on my chickies which arrive on April 8th. Which is a good thing in some ways as I'll have plenty of time to get the coop up and do the re-build I have to do on the run side...excited!Whoo, good luck with your coop! It should be an interesting construction project. We had a homemade brooder for all our chicks too. No fancy preparation required. Each time it was a large cardboard box filled with bedding, with a work lamp for heat clipped onto the handle of a tennis racket, which was propped on two chairs, one on either side of the box. lol...
(We'd go through a few boxes each time, but we had plenty then thanks to my job.)
