So my friend has been BEGGING for some chickens. Her community allows it and after 3 years of begging her mom has finally said OK. BUT only if her dad says yes. But he keeps saying no. Unless she can convince him why chickens are good.
Is there anyone out there who is willing to help my friend come up with a creative reason to help convince her dad in a nice way why she should have chickens?
Thanks to those who reply!

Well, if I were your friend, I would sit down with my dad and ask what his concerns are. There has to be a reason (or more than one) why he is saying no. I would then talk about my reasons for wanting chicks so badly.
If your friend doesn't know her dad's thoughts, no creative way will get to the root of the problem. A nice, open conversation might just do the trick.

I wish your friend good luck whatever the outcome.

They turn garbage into protein!

If her family gardens - whatever garbage the chickens don't turn into protein, they turn into nutrient rich compost! They're like cute, little, feathered employees that work for scratch ;)

Thanks for all of your replies!
Well her parents are afraid that she may get bored with them and not care for them.
But I begged it different. I think if she has to work hard for them she wouldn't get lazy.
She's very responsible when it comes to animals.
She says she tried sitting them down and talking to them but they wouldn't listen.
She is even willing to build her own coop!

She might want to ask her parents to give her the benefit of the doubt and let her raise a small flock. If she sticks to taking care of this flock, then she could keep the flock. Otherwise, her parents would have the right to rehome the chickens. That sounds like a good compromise. I sense her chances are slim if her parents don't even want to sit down and talk about it.
I do hope it works out for her.
