I'm not sure if he had this when I got him yesterday he was forced on me so he wasn't alone I only wanted two. Anyway he has a white spot in the corner of his left eye and it moves when u touch it I think it might be attached because it moves back to the spot it was in before. It is a tad red around the edges and he can still see out of that eye. I'm not sure what to do. I've been rinsing it with warm water few times a day since yesterday I can't afford a vet right now so what are my options?

Hi, I've never seen this before as I am a new duck owner. Does your duck have any other signs or symptoms of illness?

There is a picture in my hobby farms Duck magazine of a full-size adult duck with what looks like a large, irritated blister covering half of its eye. The description says "A prolapsed eyelid may be a sign of botulism." Like I said, in that case the lump is large and irritated covering about half of the eye, unlike the bump on your ducklings eye, but maybe it is something to consider? You can find images of prolapsed eyelids on google.

I googled a bit more and found another disease with similar symptoms--avian pox--maybe also worth looking into? This page explains pox and other common eye disorders in birds: http://www.petmd.com/bird/conditions/eyes/c_bd_Eye_Disorders

It could be an infection of the affected area. Do you have any "head washers" for the duckling? Just a bowl or cup of water that he/she can fully submerge his/her head in? It helps them to keep their eyes, nares, and mouths clean to avoid infection. But since this duckling looks so little, I would make sure to supervise him while he is cleaning, and then take away the head washer after a few minutes when he seems like he's had enough head dunks. Maybe try this a couple times a day?

I hope other people will have more specific answers for you... and I hope it turns out to be nothing too serious!

May be slight infection of that inner eyelid. I would get Vetericyn eye ointment and dab that at the corner of the eye three or four times a day for the next four or five days.

In the meantime, make a mild saline solution - a quarter teaspoon of salt dissolved in a cup of boiled water. Let the water cool to room temperature, and then dribble that onto the eye three or four times a day for the next four or five days. Store the solution in the frij and warm it up before using it again.

See if that helps.

It doesn't even look attached anymore just looks like something in his eye it just keeps moving back to the corner and it looks fine on the other side of it

That's strange. It must not be a prolapsed eye lid, because it would be firmly attached to the corner of his eye. When he blinks, does his eyelid go over the lump, or does the lump get pushed outside of his eye? Like is it in the eyeball (under his cornea), or on the outside of his eyeball?

Very weird. If he has no other symptoms, maybe the lump thingy will go away on its own. But it's probably still a good idea to keep it clean like Amiga suggested. Keep us updated!

It's out it was not goop nor a prolapsed eyelid.it felt like paper, I took a q tip and pushed it to the other corner of his eye and it eventually came out his eye is a little irritated but at least it is out
