Hello I am hatching multiple eggs from a couple different breeders and I would like to know the best way to mark eggs and the chicks till I can leg band them so I can keep track and know which ones are from what breeders.
Thanks

I like a soft leaded pencil for the eggs. Do not need to push hard when marking.
For the chicks, when you move the eggs to the hatcher, organize by breeder, breed or whatever by container. Use something you can clean, is tall enough the babies can not jump out and is large enough for the eggs and chicks.

I don't do eggs (yet) but marking with a pencil like DeerFangRanch suggests is a good idea, don't think a grease pencil would be a good idea.

For marking light colored chicks I use food dye and a q tip to dye the fluff. It has lasted until the feathers start coming in, I then reapply the dye. I do wing and tail feathers.
