I have this new leg horn chick 2 day old now, & she is not wanting to lay down. She actually almost falls over & wakes up. She has a buddy w/ her that she leans on a lot.
Any ideas why she don't want to lay down?

New here, I think I may have posted this in the wrong place ?

Lots of chicks fall sleep standing up, and sometimes fall over. Hatching is an exhausting ordeal to them they usually sleep a lot the first couple of days. Does she run around with her buddy at all?
Is she eating and drinking okay, and have regular poo?

Maybe she does lay down during times you aren't observing her. If she seems fine and healthy otherwise I would ignore it for now.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! You could post in the Raising Chicks forum about her www.backyardchickens.com/f/11/raising-baby-chicks
X2 As long as she seems to be walking/moving around fine (there is nothing wrong with her legs that she has trouble laying down?) and is eating, drinking etc as normal, just keep an eye on her for now, they seem to do this under the heatlamp especially sometimes, they fall asleep standing and wake them selves up when they start to fall.

Welcome to BYC!

How is your chick this morning? Lots of chicks sleep this way. She may be laying down and you are not aware of it. If you think there is something really wrong, definitely post this question in our emergency section. Kelsie has provided the link for you.

I hope the little guy is ok. Keep us posted!
