Geocaching?

We do it! The kids love it. I have a 10, 8, 5 and 3 year old. We call it treasure hunting. You can go on the geocaching website and find different size caches. Some are bigger which are easier to find. We have found 2 micros. Let me tell ya those can be a pain. It took a good 10 tries to find one. That was different days. The kids love it because you get to take something out of the cache and replace it with something else you have. We get little toys from the dollar store that come in the party packs to put in it.

Well you can see the kid in my avatar. Her an her sister I though I would try it with. Though we could load up in the jeep on a pretty day, hand them my phone an let them tell me where to go. Sounds like a fun way to teach them map reading skills. I have the c:geo google app installed now, I just need to learn how to use it...

Oldest turns 12 this year an the youngest turns 10. (I think) I think they are old enough to get the hang of it. They like the jeep but I though it would be more fun if there was more to the drive than just riding around...

Yeah those are great ages for this. They can do the smaller caches and probably enjoy it more. I would start with a large or medium so they find one or two easy ones and then go for the harder ones. Be thinking of a team name because that is fun also. Most caches have a pad or paper where you write when you found it and you can add a team name. We are just Team Walsh. Not thought out very much lol just our last name.

I didn't think about a team name. Looks like most of the local one are small. I know where most of them are to. I was a firemen in this county for 13 years so I have been almost everywhere. The kids would be lost though an if we do it in their town I would be lost most of the time too.
