Closing up the coops tonight, I noticed a totally shellless egg on the ground (no membrane at all, just yolk and albumen). I looked up on the roost above to see who it came from and this was what I saw. I'm less concerned about the mucky black stuff--it is the pink area with the white hemorrhoid-looking thing coming out of it that has me troubled.

Any idea what this could be?

Is that an egg I see at the entrance of the vent? I would glove up and check the vent for egg or particles of one.

It looks like a prolapsed vent. If so, you could use preparation h for the swelling. I heard that works pretty good. You can actually push it back in it might stay in but it might take a few times tho. But definitely make sure there isn't an egg in there before you start pushing.

And just by me responding, it will bump this up and hopefully someone else will respond!!

Good luck!!
