Hi guys,
I've got lots of questions before I start my 2nd hatch ,I'm hatching ducklings for the first time and I'm kind of freaking out!
1. Is a homemade incubator(without a fan) OK to hatch duck eggs in?
2. Is a plastic box with blankets(dedicated to ducklings) and a 100watt bulb OK to put the ducklings in?
3.do you have any suggestions for homemade food?
4.How can I tell if they are male or female?
5.Do they have any special needs?
6. I'm thinking of hatching mallards but I can't find anywhere to get fertile eggs in England so I'm thinking of getting call duck eggs instead. Any reccomendations?
7.Is it Ok to let my dog near the ducklings?(he's a toy poodle)
8. When can I teach the ducklings to swim?
9. Are there any toys that I can make for the ducklings?
10. Can I feed them duck treats?(clovers, dandelions, grass)
11. Any reccomendations for anything?

Thanks!!!!!!! P.S. I will keep you guys posted!

Not incubated ducks eggs yet so wont attempt to answer some questions

BUT you might want to try ebay for the eggs you wannt. Im in northern Ireland and ebay seems to be the place for eggs I cant get close by. Although sometimes shipping eggs may damage them

Wishing u best of luck!!

You don't have to teach your ducklings how to swim; they pretty much just know. At least that was true for my White Layers. When I got them, they tried to swim in their drinking water... Lol. I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to give them access to swimming water until they're about 8 weeks old.

4. you will see it : the colours of a male are more colour full
10 . yes they really like snails and other insects
