My fingers, toes, arms and legs are all crossed.
We have a broody BR!
There hasn't been a successful broody chicken here in quite a few years I'm told.
Just last month one went broody and stayed broody for the whole time. however she got up to much and only one egg made it half way. As well as all the other chickens were trying to and succeeding at laying on top of her. We had some store bought chicks that she decided to adopt at 8 weeks when we let them out with the rest of the flock.
I decided that this time we are going to put her in one of our cages so she wont have the option to get up to much. I have set it up now and just waiting for it to get dark. She is very aggressive right now so i am going to move the whole nesting box in there!
i have noticed her sleeping in the nesting boxes at night when i close up the coop the last couple of nights or so. I have taken the eggs from her up until today so i am counting today as day 1. I was wondering though if i can add eggs for the next day or two or if i should just leave the clutch she has and not add anymore? at this time I'm not sure how many that is. if she gets up the eggs are done for, we do not own an incubator, or know anyone who does
let the games begin!
