We have a broody BR!

There hasn't been a successful broody chicken here in quite a few years I'm told.
Just last month one went broody and stayed broody for the whole time. however she got up to much and only one egg made it half way. As well as all the other chickens were trying to and succeeding at laying on top of her. We had some store bought chicks that she decided to adopt at 8 weeks when we let them out with the rest of the flock.
I decided that this time we are going to put her in one of our cages so she wont have the option to get up to much. I have set it up now and just waiting for it to get dark. She is very aggressive right now so i am going to move the whole nesting box in there!
i have noticed her sleeping in the nesting boxes at night when i close up the coop the last couple of nights or so. I have taken the eggs from her up until today so i am counting today as day 1. I was wondering though if i can add eggs for the next day or two or if i should just leave the clutch she has and not add anymore? at this time I'm not sure how many that is. if she gets up the eggs are done for, we do not own an incubator, or know anyone who does

let the games begin!

Day 1...

Pretty hen, congrats!!! I would lift her chest up and take a peek under to get an idea of how many eggs there are (maybe put a glove on if you're concerned about being pecked). If you wanna add eggs I would do it ASAP so they all hatch around the same time. I think you'll have a successful hatch since you are separating her this time. Good luck, can't wait to see updates!

Here she is on day 2
Now that I have her settled in i am questioning her rabbit hutch pen. Unfortunately that was the only thing on hand besides the song bird cages we use for chicks we get. Does she need more room? Should I put a towel over the top for more privacy? Does she need to dust bathe when she is broody? I have come to the conclusion that I am going to recruit my friends help you build a, perfect to me, broody box. One that is not as tall but longer so I can put a small dust bath area and a wooden box nest so she feels more protected. And I think the whole lid would be two seperate umm... doors... so it would be easier to clean and feed and water her.
Any thoughts on what else should be in the perfect broody pen would be taken into consideration and much welcomed!

thank you. Last night I saw at least 4 eggs when we moved her

They do like to get up once a day or so and eat, drink, poop, dust bathe and stretch their legs. I like your idea of a broody cage with enough room to do that. Personally, I would not add eggs over the next day or so. When I set a broody, I make sure all the eggs go under at the same time so they will all hatch at the same time. I don't want her thinking she's done and leaving the nest when there are eggs within 24-48 hours of hatching.

Still on a day 2....
I have been going in and out of the coop all morning trying to get a chance to see how many eggs for sure we're in there. At last I was able to get in there while she was off the nest.
There are a total of 8 eggs all ranging from light pink to a darker brown

Day 4....
I caught her sister on her cage today. I am going to have to cover her at least over the nest so they don't poop on her. Luckily when they did poop on top it didn't go through to her
