I have 2 ducks and a drake that are 21 weeks old - Khaki Campbells. My son just found an egg at the edge of our pond, in the water - it must have rolled into the pond.
The egg shell is soft! I can push in the side of the egg. And when I candle it, it seems clear. Is this normal? I haven't switched them to layer feed yet - is that why it's soft?
Also, I have a bigger problem in that I don't know what to provide my ducks to lay in! From the moment we set them free onto our pond, they refused to go into the house that we took down there (that they had been living in before that). So, they are free on the pond and they fend for themselves. However, now that they are laying - and especially since I would LOVE for one to go broody and hatch out some eggs - I am at a loss as to what to do! Is there anything I can do to train them to lay somewhere safe? And what's safe? A floating duck house?
Help, please!
