What age do chickens begin to lay eggs....

Hi and

!!

Your girls are getting close! Depending on the breeds, they could start laying around 18-26 weeks. You can certainly expect them to lay this winter for you.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

X2 Most breeds start laying between 5 and 7 months of age, depending on the breed.

When the combs and wattles are really full and red, and the birds start to squat for you, the eggs should be coming down the pipes soon. You will then want to get some layer feed and oyster shell from the feed store.

Yes, they will lay this year for you. :)

Hens start laying between 4-7 months of age.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Hopefully you will get those first eggs before winter in a month or two!

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. Most of my chickens started laying from 20-24 weeks; a few a little earlier, a few a litttle later, so you should be getting eggs before long. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting those eggs.
