I am pony girl. I have been raising chickens and ducks - meat and layers since 2006. Right now I have 20 laying chickens, 3 ducks and 5 turkey chicks. My layers are Rhode Island Reds and Bevor. I hope I am spelling that right, I am not very familiar with the breed but I really like them. My ducks are Giant White Peking and my turkeys I do not know the breed, it is the only type my supplier raises. I get my chicks a week or more old and have have wonderful results as compared to mail order or purchasing from the local store during "chick days". I have had much less sudden chick death and failure to thrive.

I found you as a wonderful resource from my local feed store. I go to you for a variety of ideas. I now have two chicken tractors that I have been very successful with and predator free!

Some of my other hobbies are riding, training and giving lessons with my horses, hunting , fishing and kayaking. I have a house full of life with four dogs, 10 cats and 3 fish. I live on 10 acres in Missouri.

Thank you for this opportunity to introduce myself. I am so happy to subscribe rather than surf. : )

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. Sounds like you have a wonderful place. I'm a chicken person and don't know much about turkeys or ducks (although I've had a few ducks), but I have to admit that ducklings are the ultimate in cute. If you need to get in touch with either our turkey or duck experts, you can reach them at https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/20/turkeys and https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/42/ducks. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your farm.

Hello Pony Girl, I don't know when you find the time to drop in here but, I'm glad you did.

You aren't kidding when you say your home is teeming with life - how do you manage all the animals without them eating each other? I doubt that you know what boredom is.

Welcome to Backyard chickens.
