Keeping Chickens Entertained

I have had chickens here on the same land for 19 years, I haven't seen any worms. Most animals you don't actually see the worms unless there was a reason for the animal to dump the load. A healthy chicken will have a certain amount of worms and it's normal and natural. Certain foods can help keep the population in line. If a chicken has a worm overload than there's something wrong with the chicken, and worming them won't help in the end. Keep it in mind that these are all my own ideas without any scientific studies, just old farmer studies.

Well, they love anything to peck at. You can hang a whole cabbage and they will enjoy pecking and eating that. Also, I had corn in my garden, and some of the ears were buggy. I gave them the fresh corn and they LOVED it! Also a flock block. I have one in my coop and they're slowly chipping away at it.

I hang cabbage for them to peck at and I alternate it with cucumber. Just peel a few strips of skin off the cukes before hanging them. Also, I freeze excess chard from my garden and also canned corn in muffin tins with water. It's hot here in AZ and even though the coop and run are mostly in the shade they love pecking on the ice to get at the corn and chard.
