I need help with my new duckling

I am trying to help my new duckling. My sister just gave him to me because she said it would just die at her place. I don't know exactly how old he is I am guessing about 2 to 3 weeks old. When I got him 2 days ago he always walked with his head turned to the side. He also seemed pretty unsteady on his feet. But worst of all when he drank he flipped his head all the way back causing him to flip over and get stuck on his back. I just found this sight. I don't let him drink without my help so I am feeding him and helping him drink every hour during the day. Please help! Me and my three daughters are so fond of him (I think he is a him) Also I have attached a photo of him because we have no idea what kind of duck he is.
 
What are you feeding him? (you won't know until 5 or 6 weeks what sex it is btw)
Ducklings need niacin for correct development.

He's a little beauty, I only hope it's something diet related and not a physical one caused by the crest.
 
I am feeding him non-medicated starter and was thinking of adding Electrolyte so maybe if he is short on E that would help. I just don't want to over do it and make it worse.
 
I also found that if i touch him lightly at the base of his tail when he drinks he doesn't flip his head back all the way. Will he drown if i let him go ahead and drink on his own and he continues to drink that way. I am worried he isn't getting enough water.
 
what are your plans in the long run?

are you ready for having a lonely and perhaps disabled duck the next 4-7 years?
 
My plans are to get another duck so he is not loney. I have no problem commiting to years with him but I will do everything in my power to make him as healthy as he can be. He has no problems eating just with drinking. I do have a few ideas on how to help him drink if it never gets any better. I have read tons of things in the past few days looking for help and guidence but nothing sounds like him and his issues. Alot of his issues sound like wry neck.
