Chicken breeds kept in Poland in the 80's?

Spent my early childhood vacations in Poland near Krakow w my grand mother. She introduced me to her chickens. On one occasion I broke my arm as a 5 year old, sliding in CHICKEN POOP in her yard. Trying to figure out what breeds were kept commonly. All her neighbors had chickens too and ALL the chickens I saw in the late 80's looked NOTHING like " Polish hen". They looked the shape and size as common brown or reddish colored chickens ( like buffs in size and coloring). Brown was a very common color of these chickens and they often ran loose ( crossbreeds are likely). None had weird looking feathering on their heads or feet.

I am looking to see if there are anybody who lived in Poland or have knowledge of poultry keeping in Poland in the 80's. I would just love to find out my late grandmothers chickens breed ( looked like your classic brown feathered standard chicken).

Thank you if you can clear this matter up :)

Thank you for the great links to Polish breeds. Unfortunately none of those look like the ones kept in Bielsko Biela. I am pretty sure the breeds kept were not Polish but other breeds :)
Bielsko Biala,

I have family Poland and in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia and Montenegro.
There are a lot of different breeds there including American Breeds, Gamefowl, and Leghorns.

Did they look like the Zielononóżki?

I'd look at breeds from all over Eastern Europe and you may find what you're looking for.

How wonderful to hear from you :) thank you for the insight & correct spelling of the city :) yes, that breed you have pictured on your reply, looks more like the kind of chickens I remember ( same nice full feathering & size & stature & color). They were dual chickens too ( meat & eggs, so they had a adequate amount of meat on them ). Although I don't remember the specks but my mother mentioned very pretty black roosters as well . As you can imagine a real mix I am sure.. I know my grand mother would breed her own chickens and neighbors would have similar looking crossbreeds ( in the 80's in the Bielsko biala village many would not even have a properly fenced yard, so chickens would roam and occasionally fly over to the neighbors . Somehow they knew where they belonged and would go back when it started to get dark). I'll see if I can track down my mother ( she is soo busy..) and see if she can find some old pics from the 80's w some of these wonderful looking chickens running around.. I am so curious to find out if they were maybe even a mix of American or other breeds far out like that :) will definitely look up " leghorns"..
