Hi,
I have 14 chicks that are about 2 weeks old. I currently have them in a brooder box built out of a large tote. I feel like they are cramped and bored, and would like to move them into the barn to the birthing room, which has two large stalls on concrete that's totally enclosed ( so no chance of predators). I obviously know they still need heat, but my question is, could i put them in there and have a heated box so they could go in and out as they choose? Would they actually go into the heated portion or would they just freeze and die. I live in northern wisconsin, so its about 60 at night, and 80 during the day. Any advice??
Thank you!

Yes, I think they'd be fine. I had only 8 chicks in a 20 sq ft area and they did fine. They were day olds too. They know where the heat is and so they just regulate their body temp.

Awesome, thank you!! I think they are as sick of being in there as I am of them being in the house! My moms normally do the brooding for me, but these eggs my girls scared their mom off of her hidden nest, and she went and set up house elsewhere ( her chicks just hatched too, only 5 thank goodness!)
