Hello, I would like to start a thread dedicated to Orpingtons.
If you have them.
If you want them.
If you know the type of coop that works best for them.
If you know the best food mixture recipe to share.
If you wish to share their pictures and their habits.
Then this thread is it.
Please introduce yourself and let us know how you can help others with Orpingtons or if you need help with your orpingtons. I sometimes need a cup of coffee or a glass of Coke in the morning before I can run outside to let my girls out.
I always make sure they have fresh food and water at night when I lock them in.
I have small houses but wish to encrease my numbers so I am changing their housing.
I could use advice from those experienced with Orpingtons. Thank you and hope to be seeing Orpinton posts soon.
Also, if you have a favorite chicken recipe to share or even a fav desert. Please share

I've raised Buff Orpingtons for years. I love them for their beautiful gold feathers, their friendly and gentle temperament, and because they lays lots of nice, large, brown eggs. I currently have four BO hens in my flock and feed them layer crumbles along with my other hens.

I have three buff orpingtons and they are the friendliest birds in my flock. One of them will always fly up and sit on my shoulder as soon as I walk into their coop or she'll sit on my back when I'm bent over cleaning. Her father must have been a cockatoo.

What is the best book for Orpingtons?
I have chicken for Idiots and for Dummies.
Also my favorite is the chicken book by Storey.
How high up do they prefer their roosts?
How wide dor their perches?
We live were it gets cold. Snow sometimes comes in October around these parts. I got my Orpingtons as I was fazing out those that were expensive, small, lightweight and could not take the cold winters which if you think it snows here in October and it has snowed here in April.
