I think I have read somewhere - but cant find it again, that I should maybe drop the temp after day 18 when I go into "lockdown".. what are opinions please? The incubator has been around 101 (38), and I am not sure if I should drop it a smidge..
I have increased the humidity now - it is around 65%.. will increase a little bit more around day 21..

in advance - thanks

I think I've read to decrease the temperature a little, too, but I can't remember where. I don't think it really matters that much, though. I've incubated eggs at least five times, and had great hatches even without dropping the temperature.

Good luck with your hatch!

The first time I had heard of it was reading it on Porters site for hatching turkeys. I do decrease my temps by one degree now after they pip.

I personally never drop the temperature during lock down, and have had hatches nearing 100%. For some incubators, dropping the temperature just a bit is hard (many, especially still air incubators, vary slightly in temperature throughout the day or at different times). Even with my Brinsea Mini Advance, which keeps the temperature steady and at what you set it at, I don't change the temperature.

thanks every one...I did drop it a smidge.. we will just have to wait and see now. only 2 days to go (but who's counting)

well.. day 20 and no signs at all of anything happening yet... must admit, I am getting a bit anxious!

A chicken doesn't know when day 18 is and she keeps turning eggs. She doesn't know to lower her body temp. I wouldn't sweat it.

Day 20... when was the last time you candled and how did it look?

I candled at day 17, and all looked good.. I could see movement in most of the eggs, and those I couldn't see really well were the darker shelled eggs.
I guess only time will tell..

I couldn't help myself, so I did the water candling of a couple of eggs.... and I have some pretty strong wiggles... so I am feeling somewhat more happier...
