One of my red sex links recently surprised me. She laid an egg, as I was washing it I was shocked to discover a full egg inside of the brown shell. The shocker was the egg inside was White. I do have white leghorns. There wasn't any yolk between the 2 shells, just a brown shell covering the white shell. Does anybody have any insight on what happened?

I'm just spitballing, but I'm curious to know if my RSL laid and egg and "sucked" up a white egg and put a shell on it and laid it.
Your thoughts?

The white inner egg probably just didn't make it down to the coating station(where the brown pigment is applied) before being encased in the outer brown egg.
