*there is something in the water*

I am swarmed with guilt... Let me just start off with saying that... I started to go back to school last week and I could not tend to my girls as diligently as I normally do... I change their water normally every 2 days, however this week I think I have them fresh water Monday and by Friday there were tiny worm looking things in their water... I SCREAMED and FREAKED OUT.
I then proceeded to clean their entire coop (a small stone barn) and scrub their water and food containers.
I don't know if anyone has seen this before... There was NO POOP in their water.. So I'm not sure if it's some kind if parasite?? Needless to say I've been throwing their eggs out until I can figure this out.
I told my fiancé I wanted to try to send in the worms to a lab for testing and he proceeded to flush them telling me I'm exaggerating. Lol I can see j might have gone overboard but it was disgusting and it made me feel even worse knowing I did this to them.

Yes, I will no matter what be changing their water everyday.

Yep, mosquito larva. Good call. That’s one of the reasons you need to change the water regularly with a lot of watering systems, not just keep topping up the water but throw out the old even if the old water looks clean. Mosquito larva take a week or so to develop into mosquitoes so every two or three days is OK to control them. If you have a reservoir for certain types of watering systems, if the mosquitoes can get into the reservoir they can breed. I use dunks in my rain barrels to kill the mosquito larva.

The cocci bug only needs a couple of days to develop though so you really need to dump the old water at least every two days if any poop, dirt, or trash gets in it. Clean water is extremely important to their health.

Here in Florida they seem to show up quicker! Your chicks will be fine though! I like to bleach out my water containers once a week as well.

No, not the larvae...that's nothing!!
But what is horrible....you have to tell your fiancé he was right!!!!
