We have all been there. Ask away. Hoping she pulls through quick.

Just giving an update. Had the sick one just poo very runny and gosh awful smell:( had a small amount of blood in it.

I do have some I got from the vet.they hold up to 1 ml. So far eating small portions but not drinking as well. Been giving her fluids via syring

Did your hen make it? Mine is limping and is not egg bound. I really don't know what it is. I had one die with same symptoms. I am afraid of everyone dying one at s time.

Good morning Sherri357sig.

A few questions for you.
Is your hen eating and drinking as she normally would?
How old is she?
What breed?
What does her poo look like?
When did the symptoms start?
Is she acting normal or lethargic?
Are any of the other chickens taking on symptoms?

Good morning Sherri357sig.

A few questions for you.
Is your hen eating and drinking as she normally would?   Yes
How old is she? 7 months

What breed? i think a brahma
What does her poo look like? Normal
When did the symptoms start? Sunday
Is she acting normal or lethargic? So far just a limp.
Are any of the other chickens taking on symptoms? Just the one that died on Sunday. But she took 5 days to die. Just slowly went down hill

Marek's is usually what I think of first, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't rule out all other treatable conditions that can look like Marek's. If she were mine, I would treat her for Coccidiosis, de-worm with Safeguard or Valbazen, give oral calcium, vitamin E, vitamin B1 and vitamin B2. I'm on the iPad now and it's hard for me to go into detail on why, so I suggest that you research the diseases that can look like Marek's. When I get on the computer later i'll give you more detail on what I wrote.

This was Kathy's advice for myfarm4579----found on page 2. Kathy is the wiz at diseases. I have asked her for advice many times on different posts. Hope this helps your chicken. You may want to start a new thread under Emergencies/Diseases/Injuries and Cures.

Well its been 2 weeks my hen is still alive but she has been confined to a small area. she is not walking on her right leg at all. She stays sitting most of the time. Her food and water is were she can reach it, but I don't know what to do with her since all she can do is sit. I am really thinking she got hurt and is disease free. I think my other chicken that died was from an injury as well. What do you do with injured hens.
