I've never wormed my chickens, I haven't seen any sign of worms. No weight loss on the girls, picked one up the other day felt heavy and solid. How often should they be wormed? They were about 4 months old in Apr.. How old are they when they molt? Mine still have a full body of feathers. They do like the spot lights shining on their run and coop. So they are getting about 14 hours a day of light.

Parasite loads will vary hugely, depending on available wild foods (worms, etc) and your ground. I didn't worm my flock for over 15 years, but then one year the plan changed. I now give Ivermectin once or twice annually, also to control mites. Some flocks will have serious issues with intestinal parasites, others won't. There's no one size fits all rule here. You can have fecals run at the veterinarian's, or if things get really bad, sometimes see roundworms in the poo. Young birds on clean ground may be fine without any effort on your part! Mary
