Two year old hens not laying eggs

My 2 1/2 year old hens have not layed an egg for about 2 months. I'm trying to decide if it's time to butcher them. I have four chicks that I got last spring to take their place and they are just now starting to lay eggs.
 
At this age, your hens will likely take the winter off and start laying again in the spring. They're not done laying, just taking a break. My hatchery production breeds have done that consistently, each year laying just a few less eggs. It's your decision, if you want to feed them through the winter for the eggs they'll produce next year, or cull them now. There's no "right" answer, just what's right for you.
