here are some of my chicks when they were a few days old:)

It started out with two rhode island reds from the farm store about 6 weeks ago (they were two weeks old when we bought them) and then last week a box from a hatchery came filled with unknown birds. It was one of their combo packs that can have pretty much anything in it.

We had talked about getting chickens before, but I had finally decided to just wait until spring. Welll no more waiting I guess!

Rhode Island Reds are a dependable breed; hardy and excellent layers of large, brown eggs. You will have the fun of seeing what breeds you unknown chicks turn out to be as they mature. If you have problems identifying the breeds later on, just post some pics of them (when they are about 6 weeks old) on our What Breed or Gender is This? section at https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this and let our experts there identify them for you. Good luck with your flock.
