I had a cat catch a mouse in a chicken feeder once (the big, metal tube kind - I kind of encouraged her to get it), and the chickens in that coop chased her around until she dropped the mouse, one of the hens grabbed it and the chase was on again!

Guess that's the epitome of a food run or food chase?I had a cat catch a mouse in a chicken feeder once (the big, metal tube kind - I kind of encouraged her to get it), and the chickens in that coop chased her around until she dropped the mouse, one of the hens grabbed it and the chase was on again!
I wouldn't bet on that...mice will eat at night when chickens are sleeping..and like someone else said, if you see one(dead or alive) there's probably lots more around.Last night when I went to check the chickens I noticed a dead mouse in the coop. It looked pecked flat, but no blood. I guess my chickens just protected their food/home but no more then that.
The mouse met the compost pile this morning.
I am quite happy about that outcome, I won't have to worry about mice getting into the chicken food.
I've never, nor do i intend to, watch the "Hunger games". Just the name of the show is a turn off to me. I love to eat. BUT, I would watch a reality based chicken show... it could even go by the same name!I had a cat catch a mouse in a chicken feeder once (the big, metal tube kind - I kind of encouraged her to get it), and the chickens in that coop chased her around until she dropped the mouse, one of the hens grabbed it and the chase was on again!
