Long, long story short... My family has a myriad of severe health issues. It's driven us towards a more natural diet under threat of death, basically, and I took up chicken keeping to ensure antibiotic-free protein sources for my family, since a few members are almost allergic to artificial antibiotics, and general chemical sensitivity means we can't play around with chemical wormers or the likes. So, I use organic and natural therapies and methods.

The effect on us, from eating organic homegrown, was incredible and rapid, and while we're still not out of the woods yet, we've beaten the diagnoses of doctors who shook their heads, gave us a few months to live and sent us off to die as hopeless cases. That's not theatrical exaggeration either. I don't blame the docs though. Too many things were too severely wrong, we were both medical anomalies and beyond medical help.

Now, we're slowly picking up the pieces. Some of us have gone from being bedridden for over a decade to being able to again drive a car and go shopping, take their kids to the playground, walk around a block, etc, just those little things you take for granted until they're no longer there.

So that's in part why I use this name, and it's also in part because once I started keeping them, I found chickens to be amazing, fascinating animals, and want to keep them for life.
