Someone Please Help!!! Can you please tell me what's wrong with our sweet Gloria? We noticed the bumps around 4 days ago. They seem to be spreading. We thought they were mosquitoe bites. We live in Southern Louisiana. We had lots of mosquitoes in the coop. We are working on that. She is still eating and drinking and running around although my husband did witness her falling asleep today. She hasn't laid an egg in about 3 days. Is it Fowl Pox? I'm so worried. She looks so sad. Do we need to separate of her from the others? We have 4 others. Please help. Thank uou

It's always good to separate a bird showing illness, etc. from the other in case it turns out to be contagious.

I'm sorry about Gloria! Yes, she almost certainly has Fowl Pox. Fortunately, this disease isn't usually deadly, unless it progresses to the "wet" form, which causes lesions to invade the throat and trachea. To help those scabs go away, dab them with iodine. Providing her with electrolytes in her water may help her with stress. Make sure that she's eating and drinking.

Generally it is not fatal unless the bird or birds are very old, weak or sick. The birds usually recuperate after a few weeks.
